• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend you lubricate the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link boasts Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, strictly follow the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify the suitability of this chain and connecting link for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (see Fig. A).
